Two suspects will appear before the First High Criminal Court for trial on December 7, 2014. The first suspect is facing charges of burglary at gunpoint, theft, possession of a fire weapon and ammunition without a licence and damage while the second suspect is facing charges of possessing a fire weapon and ammunition without a licence and hiding amounts of money obtained from a burglary.
The accusations are levelled at the suspects in connection with burgling Ahli United Bank branch in Budaiya on November 16, 2014. When interrogated by the Public Prosecution, the two suspects pleaded guilty to the charges and were remanded in custody pending investigation, the Northern Governorate Attorney General Hussain Bu Ali said.
Investigations showed that the first suspect broke into the bank wearing a mask and stole BD 13000 at gunpoint after smashing the glass of the bank's exchange office. He hid the money and the used weapon and ammunition in the second suspect's car.
The two suspects were identified and arrested with BD 12000 of the stolen money. Policemen also confiscated the weapon and hammer used in the hold-up operation.
