Assaf has no plans to become a politician
Syrian actor Rashid Assaf is optimistic about the future of the country\'s drama industry, despite the ongoing civil war.
The veteran has told Arabstoday that Syrian dramas
have a strong history and tradition, and claims that international satellite companies had shown interest in some productions before the conflict began.
Assaf has outlined his plans for the future, with three different projects in the pipeline. The actor has completed filming of television drama, Haerat, and is set to work on Tuq el-Banat.
Towards the end of April, he will fly to Egypt to play the founder of Palestinian group Hamas, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. Discussing the political roll, Assaf claims that he only wants to portray political personalities on screen, and does not intend to become a politician. He explains that he wants to promote the humanitarian side of the politicians in his dramas.
The Syrian star has expressed delight over the success of Syrian drama Zaman el-Barghout, and thanked series director Ahmed Ibrahim for his hard work.
