Ayoon Wa Azan (Where Are the Traces of the Jews?)

Jihad el-Khazen

A few days ago, I mentioned an upcoming book in which its Likudnik American writer questions the existence of the Muslim Prophet, and I said that Islamic history and the history of the prophet are factual, while Jewish history in our countries is false. For this reason, the Muslim and Christian Arabs have well-known archaeological traces in Jerusalem, while no Jewish traces of the same quality exist there. My article coincided with the Western Christian churches’ celebrations of Easter, and the Jewish celebration of Passover, which commemorates the exodus of the Jews and their escape from slavery in Egypt – a myth of the Hebrew Bible that is unsupported by any real evidence. Well, the Arab Christians who belong to the Western churches celebrated in Jerusalem with the participation of the Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Monti, and went to the Church of the Resurrection, the most important holy site of Christianity. Today, the Eastern Churches are celebrating Easter, and soon enough, when it is time for Ramadan, the Arab Muslims will pray in the Holy Mosque near the Dome of the Rock, filling the courtyards and the nearby streets. But where are the traces of the Jews? They are only in the Torah, and do not exist in Palestine…or indeed Egypt or anywhere else in our countries. Once again, I hope Dr. Zahi Hawass will correct me if I am wrong. I am a student of Arab literature and history, not journalism, originally, and I believe that I know my subject well. Meanwhile, Robert Bauval and his book Black Genesis, co-authored with Thomas Brophy and the fact that he linked Egypt’s antiquities to the Jews, remind me of the lie the war criminal Menachem Begin told to President Anwar Sadat at Camp David, when he said, “We helped you build the pyramids”. Moving on from ancient and modern history to literature, so that the readers can stay with me, I say that the Arab Ghassanids ruled the region, including the city of Jerusalem, from the Golan in the pre-Islamic era, and left many traces. There is a famous and chronicled poem that attests to this: After he left al-Manathira for fear of the threats made by Abu Qaboos, Al-Nabigha Al-Dhubyani went to the Ghassanids whom he eulogized. The Golan, Houran, and the Abode of God (i.e. Jerusalem) are mentioned in many poems of his: [In a poem, Al-Dhubyani praises the Ghassanid Kings and mentions that their home is “God’s own abode”, meaning Jerusalem] Al-Nabigha said that the Ghassanid girls showered their kings with basil in the festival of al-Sabasib, which is Easter as celebrated by the Western Churches last week, and the Eastern churches today. To us belong the land, history, geography and the true religion. As for them, they are like scum that wastes away, while we are those meant by ‘What benefits mankind remains on the Earth”. Another thing: I am now convinced that Arab dissidents are not democratic, but are rather infected with a lust for power, just like the sitting rulers are. They therefore want to replace the regime’s dictatorship, against which they rose up under the pretext of its authoritarianism, with their own brand of dictatorship. Inevitably, there is a minority seeking real democracy, but it is small and marginalized, and has no role in the confrontation between the ruler and the ruled. The vast majority know democracy only in name, and I have another example about the regime, and then another about the opposition in Syria. The regime cannot believe that citizens are rebelling because they want a better life and freedoms they do not have. The regime thus considers every dissident an agent of America and Israel if the dissident is a man and an adulteress if it is a woman. On the other hand, dissidents cannot believe that disagreement with them may be caused by the existence of a different opinion. Instead, as soon as they read a different opinion to theirs, they accuse the proponents of such opinions of collaborating with the regime or having financial interests with it. The Syrian actress Kinda Alloush, who is politically active, was thus ‘humiliated’ just because she signed the ‘milk statement’ to help the people of Daraa. I will not repeat here the arrogant lies they spread about her. Meanwhile, Bassma Kodmani is now someone who allegedly meets with Jews and celebrates the founding of Israel, although I had only heard of her before because of her patriotic work with her Palestinian husband. From Syria, Egypt, and Palestine I move to Bahrain, through Andalusia, where a poet once saw a Jewish tax collector controlling the country’s affairs, while the rulers were weak and incompetent, and said: Tell the Antichrist this is your era, if you indeed mean to appear. Our time is not any better, and I will not be surprised if the Antichrist appears in Bahrain. I want in our countries a democracy like that in Scandinavia, wealth like that in Luxembourg and strength like that in America, while dissidents in Bahrain want to import the Iranian model, i.e. no democracy, wealth or strength…How bizarre.
