Hosts France on Tuesday beat Sweden 33-30 in the quarterfinals of the 25th World Men's Handball Championship to reach the semifinals stage of the tournament.
Kentin Mahe was the top scorer for France with nine goals from 10 attempts. Nedim Remili contributed six goals and Ludovic Fabregas notched five. Jim Gottfridsson was Sweden's top scorer with seven goals.
The winner of the quarterfinal match between Qatar and Croatia will be next for France in the semifinal.
Norway had also qualified for the semifinals after overcoming Hungary 31-28 in the first of the quarterfinal games earlier today. The Scandinavian side will face the winner of Spain and Croatia in the semifinals.
