The Dubai Police have arrested a 21-year-old Asian drug trafficker and seized 3.6kg of heroin from him. The police's anti-narcotics department arrested the suspect red-handed from a residential area.
The police action came after they received a tip-off about the suspect's activities.
Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for criminal investigation of the Dubai Police, said the suspect, identified as SH.F.G, was arrested with a bag containing 1.2kg heroin. The suspect, who worked as a salesman in a private company, was looking to hand over the drug to a person for trafficking when he was arrested.
The police raided his house in Sharjah and recovered two other bags containing 1.2kg heroin each.
During his interrogation, the suspect reportedly said the heroin belonged to a compatriot based outside the country. This man, the suspect claimed, sent it to him for peddling in exchange for money.
Based on his confession, the suspect was referred to the public prosecution for further investigation.
