A 23-year-old Emirati man succumbed to injuries he received after the motorbike he was riding veered off the road and rolled over several times at the Green Belt area in Umm Al Quwain.
Col Saeed Obaid bin Arran, director general of the traffic and patrols department of the UAQ police, said that the accident took place close to the Green Belt roundabout late on Tuesday.
"The victim, identified only as A.A., was riding his motorbike at high speed when he suddenly lost control over it and it turned over several times. The young man tried to regain control over his motorbike, but to no avail," he said.
The man fell down from his speeding motorbike, and his head smashed the road pavement, he explained.
The impact of the accident was so huge that the victim received injuries and fractures all over his body, mainly head. "He also bled excessively and died on the spot."
The central operations room of the UAQ Police, having been alerted of the accident, dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in a record time.
"Unfortunately, the young motorbiker could not make it because of the injuries and excessive bleeding," he said. "The victim's body was moved to the hospital morgue for burial by relatives."
The accident file was referred to the UAQ traffic prosecution for legal action, Col Bin Arran stated.
"All drivers are urged to observe speed limits, be attentive to U-turns, never enter a main road without checking if it was clear, and always buckle up when driving," he underlined.
