President Beji Caid Essebsi decided to extend the state of emergency by one month starting from today.
According to a statement by Tunisian news agency (TAP), spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic Ridha Bouguezzi said that the security situation is improving noticeably.
But, he specified, the requirements of security and military action, notably with regard to fight against terrorism, impose extension of the state of emergency.
On November 24, 2015, a state of emergency was declared for one month following the terrorist attack against a presidential guard bus, resulting in several deaths and injuries.
Since this attack, the state of emergency has been extended several times. On February 16, 2017, the state of emergency was extended by three months.
