Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received Tamkeen Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ibrahim Janahi and officials of the Sustainable Energy Unit. The two sides reviewed the future plan of the Sustainable Energy Unit, addressed important joint projects and discussed areas of cooperation.
The minister thanked the wise leadership for their care and support and support for projects of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the Sustainable Energy Unit and to provide best services to citizens and residents in Bahrain. The minister gave a presentation on the objectives, plans, regulations and legislation of the Sustainable Energy Unit and the National Renewable Energy Plan (NREAP).
The Cabinet had approved the establishment of the Sustainable Energy Unit in November 2014 set up in co-operation between the Government of Bahrain represented by the EWA and the United Nations Development Programme.
The unit aims to promote the use of renewable energies and raise the efficiency of energy use in Bahrain. Janahi and the accompanying delegation thanked the minister and officials for their cooperation and keenness to provide the best services.
The minister praised the Tamkeen Chief Executive’s efforts to promote the training and qualification of Bahraini cadres and support studies, research and projects. The meeting was attended by Sustainable Energy Unit Executive Director Jehan Al-Murbati and minister’s advisers Dr. Khaled Bu Rashid and Dr. Ahmed Hashim.
