The crime rate in Sharjah reduced by 10.76 percent during the first half of this year in which 3,128 crimes of various types were recorded at police stations across the emirate, revealed Col. Dr. Khalifa Kalander, Director of the Comprehensive Police Stations Department.
This reduction in crime rate comes in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy aimed at enhancing security and safety.
Col. Kalander explained that the considerable reduction and the increase in positive indices of the security situation in Sharjah comes as a result of the efforts of the Sharjah police.
''They have been working to enhance preventive measures and initiatives to stabilise security, raise awareness about the dangers of crime, enhance co-operation between the police and the public, and intensify security control patrols,'' he said as quoted by Sharjah 24.
He pointed out that the comprehensive police stations in Sharjah have dealt with 3,128 crimes this year in comparison to 3,505 in the same period last year a decrease of 377 cases.
