Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, SEWA, has won the best Arab idea in the field of reducing water consumption for the idea of creating a device to detect and stop internal spills in the Arab Ideas Competition organised by Dubai Quality Group and announced its results during the Ideas Arabia International Conference and Competition 2017.
The conference was held under the patronage H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group under the theme of "Innovation in Giving".
The award honoured 11 winners of the Arab Ideas Competition for the most important innovations that have been implemented by the institutions over the past year and achieved qualitative results.
Dr. Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of SEWA, confirmed that the award is a result of the continuous effort to find innovative solutions to rationalise energy and water consumption and relying on innovation in various areas of work.
Al Leem noted that the development of the new device was in cooperation between the scientific research team from SEWA and the research team from American University, in the framework of the cooperation agreement signed by the Commission with the University of Sharjah and the American University to develop the work areas of the authority through reliance on scientific research.
The award was received by Essam Al Mulla, Director of Water Management, Sharif Abdullah, Director of the Contact Centre, and Dr. Alaa Al-Din Mohammed Al Hassan, Head of Planning section in Water Management.
