Prince Turki Al Faisal, Chairman of King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies, inaugurated here today the Riyadh Forum on Countering Extremism and Fighting Terrorism, attended by several anti-terror experts from several parts of the world.
At the opening session of the Forum, organised by the Centre and under the auspices of the Islamic Military Coalition for Combating Terrorism, participants agreed on the importance of Saudi Arabia's role in combating terrorism to achieve global peace and security.
They stressed that Saudi Arabia has a vital role in confronting the greatest danger facing the world since the WWII because of its importance in the Arab and Islamic worlds and its experience in combating terrorism.
They noted that extremism and terrorism cannot be linked to a specific religion or region.
Prince Turki Al-Faisal said that Saudi Arabia has been fighting terrorism since its inception and that it has faced many forms of terrorism since the 1950s. It has faced terrorism that has created organisations such as al-Qaeda and other groups, he added.
