The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain has announced that it has hired a law firm to follow up on the case of 16 Bahraini fishing vessels and 19 fishermen that were siezed by the authorities in Qatar, asserting that it will take all necessary legal measures to protect the detained fishermen and preserve their rights, specially after Qatar’s repetition of such practices.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that dealing with these issues is governed by the international maritime safety treaties, and should be in compliance with the relative legal procedures, stressing that it will continue its efforts to ensure the release of the fishermen and fishing vessels as soon as possible.
