President of Jordan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) Khaled Toukan signed with Deputy Director General of the Department of Technical Cooperation at the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA) Dazhu Yang, the planning document of the strategic partnership between Jordan and the IAEA for the years 2018-2022.
A statement by the JAEA said that the document was signed during Toukan’s participation in the International Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme “Sixty Years and Beyond” which concluded at the IAEA’s headquarters in Vienna today with the participation of 1200 specialists.
The document, which was prepared in consultation with a number of concerned national bodies in coordination with the agency, focuses on national needs and priorities in order to support them.
According to the statement, the support comes through technical cooperation activities that meet quality standards to achieve economic and social development.
On Jordan’s participation in in the two-day meeting, the statement said that Toukan presented a briefing on human capacity building through regional efforts in which he spoke about the Synchrotron Center (SESAME) project as a success story that highlights the agency’s role in supporting the center through regional projects.
