The General Women’s Union has launched an updated website for the Emirati Women’s Day celebrations on 28th August, under the theme, "Women are Partners in Giving".
Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women’s Union, said that the launch of the website follow the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwo
man of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, with the aim of encouraging all sectors of the community to participate in the celebrations through the website.
Al Suwaidi called on all members of the community to participate under this year’s Emirati Women’s Day theme, "Women are Partners in Giving", and to highlight the local and international giving, as well as the efforts of women, after their success in overcoming all obstacles in the way of their progress, thanks to the support of the leader of the women’s movement in the country, H.H. the "Mother of the UAE".
She added that Emirati women have a noble history of community contributions and giving that inclulde many stories of success and sacrifice, along with the current role in completing this great journey. She added that women are continuing their development and the noble role that they fulfil through their families, as they are mothers, wives and workers who sacrifice, and there is nothing more precious than the sacrifice of a martyr’s mother, who has proved her capacity for giving.
She stressed that the General Women’s Union has implemented many charity initiatives led by women, such as the Refection Initiative, the Giving Caravan, the Eid Money Gift Initiative, and many other initiatives that they executed with efficiency and ability.
She added that due to the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Emirati women have followed a clear path that was strengthened by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the UAE.
Eng. Ghalia Al Manaei, Director of the Information Technology Department at the General Women’s Union, stated that the website aims to include and integrate members of the community, in highlighting the numerous accomplishments of Emirati women and their effective giving. She also spoke of the initiatives that they implemented during their journey, as well as the great support given by the wise leadership to women, their empowerment in all areas, and the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to support women and provide them with the opportunity to reveal their creativity and continuous giving, while considering them an essential part of the community.
