Police have arrested a young Emirati who was filmed stunt-driving in City Walk over the weekend, sending pedestrians scattering for safety.
A video showed the young man doing "doughnuts", or driving in circles at high speed, just metres from pedestrians after heavy rain on Saturday.
One, which lasts about 45 seconds, shows him driving erratically through water and bringing surrounding traffic to a standstill, as pedestrians – including young children – run for cover. He then drives off with two passengers in the vehicle.
The videos were posted on social media and viewed by thousands.
Dubai traffic police have since arrested him and confiscated his 4x4. They say he can expect to face charges and a Dh100,000 fee to recover his car.
Many roads and intersections were flooded on Saturday after heavy overnight rain.
