His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa stressed that Bahrain has ensured all constitutional and judicial guarantees to protect human rights and freedom out of an unflinching belief that they are an inherent part of its Islam-based culture and identity. He lauded Bahrain’s strides in the field of human rights that guarantee equal rights for all to dignity, security and welfare. He also praised the climate of freedom and openness in Bahrain, which is the dividend of continuous national effort to boost and protect human rights.
HRH the Prime Minister was speaking as he received at Gudaibiya Palace today President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Said Al Fihani and members of the Council of Commissioners on the occasion of the issuance of the royal decree appointing them to the institution’s new Council of Commissioners. He affirmed that protecting human rights is a comprehensive approach on which development is based in Bahrain. He described security and stability as the cornerstone of social development, stressing that the right to live in a secure environment is an essential human right.
HRH the Premier congratulated NIHR’s Council of Commissioners President and members on the royal trust to continue the institution’s march in promoting human rights in Bahrain, wishing them every success. He praised the role of the institution in dealing responsibly with the human rights issues in Bahrain and mapping out policies to bolster them and promote the culture of respecting human rights.
NIHR President thanked HRH the Prime Minister for his directives and support, commending his vision of the need for integration between the efforts of the kingdom, the international community as well as government and non-government organisations to boost human rights achievements, being a joint responsibility. He also stressed Bahrain’s honourable human rights record thanks to the leadership’s wise vision of respecting human rights according to international standards.
