Crime rate in Sharjah dropped by 10 per cent during the first half of this year.
Col. Dr Khalifa Kalender Abdullah, Director of Police stations of Sharjah Police, confirmed that there was a decrease of crime incidents in the Emirate by 10.76% during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.
Colonel Kalender pointed out that the police stations in Sharjah recorded 3,128 crime incidents in the first half of 2017, as compared to 3,505 during the same period in the previous year.
He said, "This can be attributed to the Ministry of Interior's strategy to enhance security."
The Director of the Comprehensive Police Centers Department praised the efforts of the Sharjah Police in promoting preventive measures and initiatives to stabilize the security situation in the emirate, while raising awareness of crime among the members of society.
He underlined the enhanced cooperation between the police and the public and intensified security patrols in all areas of the Emirate that ensured drop in crime incidents.
