UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on Friday held discussions that centered on the "main issues of the coming period and on the mechanisms necessary to bridge differences over the political, humanitarian, and economic aspects of the period," he said in a statement.
Ould Cheikh Ahmed added today that he chaired a session of talks for the delegations of the Government of Yemen, Ansarullah movement and the General People's Congress.
The Prisoners Committee also held a session today to discuss the "most effective mechanisms needed to advance progress on the issue," he said.
The envoy also met with Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and updated him on recent developments of the talks developments.
In addition, the UN envoy held an extended meeting with representatives of the G-18 who reiterated their countries' strong support to the efforts of the United Nations. They expressed their commitment to continue supporting Yemen and its people during this difficult period of time.
