Jordan voiced concern over the financial situation of UNRWA and the decline of basic services offered to the Palestinian refugees due to the rise in demand on the agency’s services and the political instability in the region.
Director General of the Palestinian Affairs Department Yassin Abu Awad urged the donor countries to meets their financial obligations towards UNRWA.
In remarks at the conclusion of UNRWA’s consultative committee meetings, Abu Awad said that Arab countries should not bear additional financial burdens, calling for an increase in donations made by donor countries.
He also stressed the importance of preparing the agency’s budget in accordance with its basic programs, and supporting its response plans.
