Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and US held a meeting today at the Council's headquarter, on combating extremism, recruitment of terrorists, combating terrorist discourse and the establishment of a network of specialized centers in this field.
The GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-U'waisheq stressed the importance of the meeting in the fight against terrorism. The meeting explored the motivations behind terrorism and the efforts for combating terrorist discourse in addition to setting a network of specialists in combating extremism.
Representatives from Member States and the US took part in the meeting along with Prince Mohammed bin Naif Counseling and Care Centre and Hedaya Centre of excellence in counter violent extremism.
