The Bahraini-Thai Friendship Committee held a meeting at the Council of Representatives today, in the presence of MPs Abbas Al-Madhi, Abdulrahman Rashid Bu Majeed and Isa Ahmed Turki.
The meeting discussed the latest regional and international developments, as well as issues of common interest and ways to enhance cooperation between the Council of Representatives and the Thai House of Representatives.
The visit of the Thai parliamentary delegation to the kingdom is at the invitation of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, as part of his efforts to consolidate parliamentary diplomacy, on the one hand, and strengthen Bahraini-Thai relations in various fields, on the other.
MP Abbas Al-Madhi asserted that the Bahraini-Thai relations are strong thanks to the outstanding relations between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Thai Monarch, noting that the bilateral relations enjoy the interest of the Kingdom’s political leadership and the representatives of the people, as well.
He highlighted the Council of Representatives’ interest in consolidating the existing strategic partnership with friendly Thailand to fulfill the aspirations of their two peoples, noting that the Bahraini-Thai relations have become a role model for ties between countries as they are based on mutual interests and shared interests.
He also praised the role played by Thailand in Asia, as well as its efforts to enhance GCC-Asian cooperation in various fields.
Chairman of the Thai-Bahraini Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Chusak Limsakul, said the Thai delegation’s visit to “friendly” Bahrain is an opportunity to strengthen parliamentary, economic and investment cooperation, especially amid the rapidly-unfolding developments in the world.
He stressed the importance of coordinating stances between the two friendly countries at various international parliamentary gatherings.
He said that the Kingdom of Thailand always stands with the Kingdom of Bahrain and supports its just causes, especially in facing terrorism, confronting terrorist groups, and in dealing with the campaigns staged against it to distort its international human rights reputation and the double standards adopted by some international human rights organisations in this regard.
