A bus collided with a truck in northern Israel, leaving about 35 injured on Thursday night, the country's emergency medical services said.
The accident occurred inside the Carmel Tunnels highway, a set of road tunnels outside the coastal city of Haifa, when a bus full of passengers traveling northbound crashed with a truck, the police said.
A spokesman for MDA, Israel's Red Cross, said two people, including a woman in her early twenties, were evacuated for medical treatment in a critical condition. Another six people were said to be in serious condition while the rest sustained moderate to light injuries, the spokesman said.
The authorities blocked the tunnels, allowing in only police and medical teams.
A police spokeswoman said an investigation into the causes of the accident was launched.
