The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) signed Sunday a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese government aims at enhancing cooperation between the two sides through the implementation of joint projects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative launched by the Chinese President three years ago.
The MoU was signed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and HE the United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al Nasr, who took part in a session of talks on activating the cooperation frameworks between the UNAOC and the Chinese government, in the course of the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation, which kicked off in China Sunday.
A large number of heads of state and government, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Greek Prime Minister, the UN Secretary-General, President of the World Bank, President of the International Monetary Fund and representatives of the business sector and civil society, are taking part in the Forum.
Opening the Forum, the Chinese President underlined that his country's initiative seeks to deepen regional cooperation, promote exchanges among civilizations and safeguard international peace and stability, in addition to promoting dialogue among peoples and benefiting from development efforts and economic progress.
