Preparations for the Expo 2020 Dubai are in full swing and youth volunteers have the opportunity to be involved in the journey. They will act as ambassadors for the UAE, showcasing to the world the vibrancy of the nation. Youth Connect director Alya Al Ali said that by volunteering for Expo 2020, the youth will have a big opportunity to learn, innovate, create, and have fun by sharing and exploring new ideas reflecting the themes of the Expo. Here are some initiatives in the run-up to Expo 2020 Dubai:
School roadshows
As of October 2017, more than 20,000 schoolchildren have been engaged by Youth Connect. The team explained to them the theme of 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future' and challenged them to learn, innovate and a play a role in expo's journey to 2020 and beyond.
Youth Labs
Engage young people to shape and define elements of Expo 2020 Dubai, including getting their direct input to the architects and designers of the landmark Sustainability Pavilion, helping the expo celebrate the UAE's 50th anniversary National Day, and even contributing to concept plans for the official mascot.
Apprenticeship programme
27 apprentices were given the chance to take part in the nine-month training course at the expo. This opportunity has now been expanded following last month's integration with another successful apprenticeship scheme for Emirati graduates run by the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority.
