Egyptian Attorney General, Ahmed Sadek referred 66 persons to the Criminal Court in Cairo Court of Appeals after the investigations conducted by the security forces revealing their attempt to form a “Daesh” cell, that works in 6 different governorates called “Upper Egypt Organization”. 43 of the accused are in prison and the others managed to escape including 2 women.
The detainees were accused of forming and leading an illegal group that calls to disrupt the provisions of the constitution and laws, prevent state institutions and public authorities from carrying out their actions, attack the personal freedom of citizens and damage the national unity and social peace. They are also accused of joining a group that calls for the atonement of the ruler, attacks the state institutions, kills Christian citizens, and overtakes their property and money, targets public facilities for the purpose of overthrowing the state, disrupts public order and endangers the safety and security of society, along with robbery, obtaining unlicensed weapons and ammunitions, making explosives, and targeting vital facilities.
The prosecution investigations revealed that, Mustafa Ahmed Abdel Aal received orders from “Daesh” organization to form a new group under the name “Upper Egypt Organization”. The defendant was found guilty of forming 8 cells in Cairo, Giza, Kafr El-Sheikh, Beni Suef, Minya and Aswan, and these cells announced their loyalty to the organization "Daesh" and offered allegiance to the leader of the organization Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The investigations showed that, the defendants targeted one of the money-transfer vehicles on the Kafr El-Sheikh / Baltim International road, north of Cairo, and seized its contents.
