Dubai Municipality’s Health and Safety Department has received two international safety awards during the British Safety Council’s 60th Anniversary and International Safety Awards. The awards recognise organisations from around the world who have demonstrated a commitment to protecting their workers from the risk of injury or illness at work.
The municipality received Distinction in the International Safety Award and the Local Government Sector Award in recognition of the efforts of the Health and Safety Department and its excellence in maintaining the health and safety of employees.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, lauded the efforts of the Health and Safety Department and the Municipality for the accomplishment.
Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Assistant Director-General for Environment, Health and Safety Sector, Redha Salman, Director of Health and Safety Department and Raed Al Marzouqi, Head of Occupational Safety Section, presented the awards to the Director-General.
Salman added that Dubai Municipality was among the 31 organisations worldwide who won the recognition of Distinction this year in addition to receiving the unique International Safety Award in the local government sector.
He pointed out that 578 organisations representing different parts of the world have won prizes ranging between Pass, Merit and Distinction, and Dubai Municipality became the only government organisation in the country that has been granted the Distinction Award.
