Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, recently announced the Dubai Fitness Challenge - an initiative that aims to make Dubai the most active city in the world.
The mechanics are simple - commit 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 days. The Dubai Crown Prince has been challenging several government institutions to take part in the initiative.
So far, the Dubai Police, Roads and Transport Authority Dubai (RTA), Emirates have accepted the challenge. But the fitness challenge is not limited only to government bodies. In fact, residents are also encouraged to take part in it - either as an individual or as an organisation employee.
The 30 day challenge will offer everything from free fitness classes around the city and exciting events to an easy-to-use app and fabulous prizes, making the challenge fun-filled and rewarding for everyone, including adults and children.
Kick off
Kicking off with a weekend carnival on October 20, 2017 at Safa Park, there will be a month of citywide events and activations, including more than 1,500 free workout classes at 88 partner fitness and sports facilities, 75 pop-up fitness locations for easy and convenient workouts, 16 partner sporting events, five weekend family fun carnivals and a whole range of sports and fitness activities.
App
Track your performance on our Dubai Fitness Challenge app, the digital pulse of all the action at your fingertips once the challenge starts. The app offers exclusive access to over 1,500 free classes as well as e-vouchers, which unlock special discounts at prominent outlets throughout Dubai. It's where we will run our corporate leaderboard, ranking contributions of different corporates and individuals towards our collective city goal over the 30 days.

- Opening Weekend Carnival: October 20-21
