The President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Dr Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Ohaly, met with the President of Fuda Cancer Hospital at the University of Jinan, China, Professor Xu Kecheng and his accompanying delegation. They discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two parties and the most important topics of mutual concern, including the exchange of expertise and knowledge, given AGU’s innovation in academic teaching methods and scientific research.
During the visit, the two sides discussed the possibility of exchanging knowledge and expertise regarding scientific research and training in the modern methods of treatment which Fuda Hospital employs, such as Nanoknife Ablation, Cryosurgery and Combined Immunotherapy, as well as traditional Chinese medicine. In turn, the delegation was briefed on the plans of the King Abdullah Medical City. They expressed admiration for the development that this project will bring for the health sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Dr Khaled Tabbara, Dr Moiz Bakhiet, Chief Executive Director of Al Jawhara Centre for Molecular Medicine and Inherited Disorders, Dr Hamood Abdulrahman Al-Khashab, Oncology Consultant at Fuda Hospital, and Ms. Tracy Wan, Secretary of External Affairs.
During the meeting, the delegation toured AGU and learned about the university’s mission, colleges and scientific facilities. They were also given a detailed explanation of the history of the prestigious university which attracts students from the six GCC countries. Professor Xu gave a lecture in which he reviewed Fuda Hospital experiences in the treatment of cancer using modern means. He answered questions by the audience who were mostly comprised of senior oncologists, some patients and individuals with interest in the subject.
At the end of the visit, both parties agreed to place a plan of action of joint cooperation for the benefit of patients and the growth of scientific exchange and research development between the two sides
