The Emirati children of Etihad Aviation Group, EAG, employees have been spreading the joy of Haq Al Laila, an Arabian Gulf Muslim festival, by giving the airline’s guests special "Kharyta" goodie bags, made from the national dress material, as they depart its home base at Abu Dhabi Airport.
The gesture marked the local festival, which takes place across GCC countries and falls in the middle of the Islamic month of Sh’aban. During Haq Al Laila. Children wear traditional clothes and visit their neighbours, collecting sweets, nuts and treats.
The children also used the occasion at the airport to explain the significance of Haq Al Laila, as an Emirati tradition, to international guests.
"Haq Al Laila is a special Emirati tradition which takes place as the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches and so we are delighted to show international guests what this means to our children," said Khaled Al Mehairbi, Senior Vice President of Abu Dhabi Airport Operations and Chairman of the Sports and Social Committee at Etihad Airways.
