The new Qatar National Library (QNL) building in Education City will open its doors to the public for the first time on Tuesday.
The Qatar National Library (QNB) said in a statement that the new building had been built for five years, its design was to balance the availability and accessibility of knowledge content on the one hand, and to preserve and maintain that content in a safe place on the other.
QNL contains the latest advances in digital technology in the world of information and libraries, and it giving residents access to more than one million books, periodicals, and special collections , in addition to the heritage library , and a special collections for children and young people.
Visitors can utilize individual and group study spaces, computer labs, a writing center, and Innovation Stations offering a wide variety of creative tools, such as 3D printers and musical instruments.
The library also has 28 study rooms offering a quiet reading space , each unit has an office and a bookcase, while the heritage library provides an area dedicated to researchers containing tables and outlets for electricity and can accommodate 14 researchers.
All the community members in Qatar will be able to visit The new Qatar National Library (QNL) building every day from 8 am to 8 pm throughout the week, except Fridays, where the library is open to the public only in the evening.
QNL has also launched its new website at www.qnl.qa, allowing users to register for membership, search the librarys collection, reserve meeting and event spaces in the building, and access the dozens of online digital resources available to members
