At least seven civilians were killed and 17 others injured in an explosion near a mosque in Afghanistan's Herat city on Tuesday.
The explosive device was planted in a motorbike and detonated near the northern gate of the Great Mosque of Herat around 3 p.m., provincial police chief Mohammad Ayub Ansari said.
Without pointing finger at any group or individual, the official said an investigation was initiated into the case, Xinhua news agency reported.
Earlier in the day, another blast shocked Kabul while an international conference on peace process in Afghanistan with the participation of delegates from over 20 countries and international agencies, was underway.
