Marjan Faraidooni, Senior Vice President, Legacy Development and Impact at Expo 2020 Dubai, has said that UPS International is the ideal partner capable of fulfilling the numerous logistical needs of an international event such as the Expo.
She said at press conference on Thursday that a huge international event such as the expo needs massive and complex logistical operations as more than 200 countries and international organisations are expected to participate with thousands of visitors during peak days.
Faraidooni explained that the delivery of huge quantities of goods from all over the world to Dubai will be required on a daily basis during the six-month duration of the event.
In her reply to a question by Emirates News Agency, she said, "We are speaking about massive numbers that include, for example, the provision of 500,000 meals, handling of 34,000 tonnes of waste, and 9,000 tonnes of logistical supplies on daily basis."
Expo 2020 Dubai signed a partnership agreement with UPS International in Dubai on 9th May. This makes it the official logistical services partner for the expo and gives it the responsibility of guaranteeing an exceptional experience for millions of visitors and participants from all over the world.
Faraidooni noted that UPS is the largest company for parcel and fast mail delivery in the world with over 100 years of experience in this sector. The company delivered 4.9 billion parcels and packages in 2016.
She stressed that the company will provide more than 27,000 square metres of storage, which is equivalent to 4 football courts, as well as a logistics team of 1,000 employees during Expo 2020 Dubai, which will be held from 20th October, 2020, until 10th April, 2021.
Faraidooni stressed that UPS will have a vital role in the development of transportation during and after the expo. She also revealed that the company plans to enlarge its scope in the region by promoting its technological capacities and the efficiency of its personnel. The aim is to fulfill the shipping needs of its clients from and through Dubai even after the expo.
She highlighted the fact that the partners of the Expo 2020 Dubai will perform an efficient role in guaranteeing the provisions of an exceptional and unforgettable experience during the event.
Faraidooni noted that the expo has partners in various sectors including technology, transportation, knowledge, logistical and banking services, e-payments, culture and entertainment.
She confirmed that they would work together to make the expo an unforgettable experience for millions of visitors.
