H.E. Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, will patronize the 8th Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association (GPCA) Fertilizer Convention, which will be held during the period 26-28 September at the Bahrain Ritz Carlton hotel.
Under the theme “New Beginnings: Return to Growth”, the 8th GPCA Fertilizer Convention aims at attracting key figures who are involved in this industry from the region and beyond to connect and exchange thoughts and expertise and to share the latest technologies and trends driving development in the fertilizer industry. It will also delve into main issues pertaining to food security, long-term strategies of manufacturing fertilizers and enhance competitiveness levels as well as protecting the environment.
H. E. Shaikh Mohamed, the Minister of Oil, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the utmost support provided by the wise leadership to these specialized events that drive the national economy forward and boost knowledge and development systems in addition to exchanging experiences and building competencies in the oil and gas sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and other GCC states in order to achieve sustainable development. H.E. the Minister has commended the organizing committee’s decision to hold this international event in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has proved to be reputable and capable of organizing and hosting successful international events over the past decades.
In its 8th edition, the GPCA Fertilizer Convention is organized by the Arab Fertilizer Association, GPCA’s Fertilizer Committee with the cooperation of the National Oil & Gas Authority (NOGA).
Speakers list includes a number of experts and executives from the GCC states and beyond. Key speakers include H.E. Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, President of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), Mr. Khalid al-Mudaifer, President and CEO of Ma’aden, Mr. Peter Huang, CEO of China National Chemical Information Center Consulting, Ms. Charlotte Hebebrand, Director General of International Fertilizer Association, and Mr. Robert Smulders, Vice President of Maire Tecnimont Innovation Center.
Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Chair of the GPCA Fertilizer Committee and President of GPIC, praised the important role played by GPIC in preparing the conference sessions and providing the appropriate environment for the success of its meetings. He also expressed the hope that the conference will achieve its objectives and aims to invite all guests and participants to take advantage of the event, and to explore the latest industry strategy around the world, and to learn more about the challenges and solutions faced by the fertilizer industry regionally and globally. He added that GPIC will do its best to provide all the conditions for the success of the upcoming conference, which he described as an annual great gathering that is reinforced by the presence of industry elites in the Arab world and the world.
Due to abundancy of feedstock in the region, fertilizer industry in the GCC states has seen remarkable growth in the last decade with rising production and exports to consumers in the international market.
GPCA Fertilizer Convention is an annual event that creates a platform for key regional industry figures, fertilizer consumers and government representatives in order to exchange information and to explore and deliberate key issues regarding food security and long-term strategies regarding fertilizer manufacture and application.
Established in 2006, GPCA embraces more than 90% of the petrochemicals and chemicals producers in the region and is the first of its kind in the Middle East. It aims to enhance the role of companies and enable them to play a key role in the chemical industry to ensure a sustainable industrial growth that will bring prosperity and security to the peoples of the region.
