Deputizing for the prime minister, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yaroub Qudah opened the 9th Jordan AFAQ Economic Forum entitled “Entrepreneurship and its impact on the economy”.
In remarks during the opening ceremony, the minister said that the government had approved a set of laws that contribute to stimulating the economy. “According to international studies, 84 percent of new ventures do not succeed while 75 percent of projects that are set up with the participation of business incubators succeed” he added.
The minister pointed to challenges facing the process of developing entrepreneurship including financing, which is a major obstacle to establishing new projects.
The forum will focus on entrepreneurship in local and Arab economy and its role in pushing the economic development forward, the role of donor and financing institutions in supporting projects, entrepreneurship and Arab women, and the role of entrepreneurship in the IT and renewable energy sectors.
The event is attended by economic and financial experts as well as local and Arab companies operating in the economic sector.
