Chairman of the Commission on Sustainable Development in the Union of Banks of Egypt Dalia Abdel Qader revealed that the launched an initiative to develop Egypt’s slums three years ago, saying that it was the first time for the different banks to rally behind a unified objective.
She added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that the union works to develop over 15 slums since over two years, saying that the initiative comes in the framework of the social responsibility of the banking sector of Egypt.
She stressed that they banking sector succeeded to develop 15 slums in Cairo’s Helwan district, saying that the participation of banking sector is considered a turning point in this issue. She stressed the need for pushing the social role performed by the Egyptian banks during the coming period.
