Managing Director of the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Ali Akbar Safayee announced that the country has attained self-sufficiency in the construction of offshore oil platforms despite the sanctions imposed by the West.
"Iran has become self-sufficient in building offshore oil platforms," Safayee said.
He noted that Iran has taken wide strides in marine industries despite the western sanctions and other international limitations.
In September, a senior energy official announced that the Iranian Oil Ministry "plans to increase the country's crude output" through renovating the structure of its offshore oilfields and platforms.
"The renovation of oil rigs and platforms in offshore oilfields will surely result in a rise in the crude output," Managing Director of Iranian Offshore Oil Company Saeed Hafezi said.
He also said that oil production in Iran's Lavan oilfield in the Persian Gulf will increase by 20,000 barrels in the near future.
In September, Managing Director of Iran’s Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) Gholamreza Manouchehri announced that his company is building five new platforms for the different phases of the South Pars gas field.
Manouchehri said after completion of the platforms, they will be delivered to various South Pars phases' development projects.
The IOEC had successfully finished 4 other offshore platforms for phases 17, 18, 12-A and 12-B of the supergiant South Pars gas field which were installed at the planned spots.
The IOEC is an active Iranian company which is mainly involved in design and construction of petroleum facilities.
