Gerry Adams said on Saturday he will be stepping down as leader of Sinn Fein in 2018, after more than three decades as the dominant figurehead of Irish republicanism.
"Leadership means knowing when it's time for change and that time is now," Adams told Sinn Fein's party conference in Dublin, shortly after being re-elected as party leader for one more year.
