The UAE Chemical Society met on Thursday to discuss its arrangements for hosting the 18th International Conference of the Union of Arab Chemists, ICUAC.
The conference will be held from 26th to 28th March in Ras al-Khaimah, with Arab and international participation.
The preparatory meeting was headed by Dr. Moza Saif Matar Al Shamsi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chemists and Chair of the UAE Chemical Society, who also reviewed committee work and scientific programmes of the conference.
Al Shamsi thanked H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, for his kind patronage of the conference and his support for the society.
The UAE Chemical Society won the right to organise and host the conference with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Union of Arab Chemists at its most recent meeting.
''Participants will discuss nearly 70 research papers on nuclear chemistry, industrial and applied chemistry, medicine and health sciences, clean energy and its application, Nanotechnology, the chemistry of a sustainable environment, recycling, water desalination, and waste water treatment,'' Al Shamsi explained.
Over the three days, discussions at the conference will involve researchers, industrialists, students, and chemists, who will explore the future of chemistry through its modern applications in industry and medicine, analyse environmental problems as well as the role of chemistry in creating appropriate solutions, she stated.
