The festival shows of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Theatre Award for National Clubs, Youth Center and People with Disabilities continue with great success.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, at Isa Town Cultural and Sports Club Hall, with the slogan #Painting_A_Smile. It is sponsored by: Tamkeen, Batelco, BANAGAS, Coca Cola, Al Hawaj, GPIC, Majestic Cars, Economic Development Board, Bapco, Palace Enterprises, Gulf University, Nissan, Yousif bin Ahmed Kanoo and Gadooa.
The festival's third show titled "City of Everywhere", directed by Ismail Murad and presented by Zallaq Youth Center was held yesterday. It had a large crowd turnout that filled the hall, who expressed their admiration for the play.
A review session was conducted after the show with artist and director Jumaan Al Ruwaie, who was keen on answering questions from the audience.
It’s worth to note the script was prepared by Mr. Fahad Al Baker, and Mr, Mustafa Khalifa provided the Dramaturgy. The crew of the play is as follow: Noora Eid, assistant director, Mohamed Shaheen, scenography and lighting, Yousif Salim, music, Abdulrahman Al Ruwai, décor, Sarah Al Shaiji, makeup, Hussain Salim, poster design, Abdullah Al Tahan, production management and Mahmoud Mohammed, assistant production management. The actor of the play is as follow: Nora Eid, Ali Al Murbati, Saleh Al Durazi, Mohamed Saadoon, Ibrahim Abdulaziz and Al Dar Bahraini band.
Al Dosari: The festival is a kind initiative
Muftah Al Dosari, Head of Zallaq Youth Center, said that the festival is a kind initiative from HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He said that establishing a festival of this level for youth theatre is a positive point that will reflect on reviving this art which had disappeared in past periods. He also added that the inclusion of people with disabilities is a successful step.
Al Dosari pointed out that Al Zallaq Youth Center is participating for the first time and he is keen to appear with outstanding performances in the next editions.
Speaking on the significant role of these events, Al Dosari said: "Events that deal with youth theatre play a significant role in reviving this art form. National Clubs and Youth Centers are keen to participate as it benefits the theatre scene, especially as there is an opportunity to discover talents and refine them."
Noora Eid two roles in City of Everywhere
Noora Eid participated in the play "City of Everywhere" presented by Zallaq Youth Center by having two roles in the play.
She participated as an actress in the play but also was part of the work crew as she played the role of assistant director to Ismail Murad, the director of the play.
Expressing her joy with her participation in the festival, Noora said: "The feeling of participating in this new experience is indescribable."
Noora said that she faced difficulties when rehearsals began as she had to take care of the actors and fulfill her role as an actress. She noted though that the she is satisfied with her performance in the play.
Noora thanked director Ismail Murad for placing his trust in her and added that the festival is a great opportunity for National Clubs and Youth Centers; as it embraces youth interested in theatre. She pointed out that these festivals play a significant role in developing the Kingdom’s theatre and thanked everyone who worked in this festival for their efforts.
Hussain: A chance to discover talents and refine them
Broadcaster Ali Hussain said that the festival is the ideal opportunity to discover talents and refine them in the field of youth theatre.
During his visit to the festival, Hussain said that establishing such events with wide participation from the youth has a dramatic impact on discovering talents. He pointed out that these talents could be supported and refined. He also said that talents can be found in acting and other fields such as directing, decor, music and other associated arts.
Hussain said that the step to include people with disabilities by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa is a humanitarian initiative as people with disabilities are an integral part of the community.
He noted on the importance of including them in various activities, stressing that youth with disabilities are talented and can be creative in different fields.
Hussain pointed out that the festival received wide attendance which brought life to the theatre scene, and said that HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Kahlifa has revived the theatre scene through his initiatives.
Today's play is "Tough Customer " by Tubli Club
The activities of the festival continue today (Saturday) with the fifth show by Tubli Cultural and Sports Club at Isa Town Cultural and Sports Club Hall.
The play is titled "Tough Customer" by director Jassim Al Tallaq and the invitation is open for everyone to attend.
