Syrian forces unleashed an "unprecedented" bombardment against opposition-held neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, concurrently under a ground offensive by Syrian regime forces to tighten the siege of the city, Syrian opposition sources said.
Syrian regime forces successfully took control of parts of the Castelo road and blocked the road between Aleppo's eastern neighborhoods and Northern countryside, the sources said in press statements carried by Sky news on Sunday.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces made advances following an unprecedented aerial and artillery bombardment, the sources added.
The UN warned that more than 300,000 are trapped by Assad's forces in Eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo, saying they would die of starvation.
