Cairo - MENA
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has called for support for the Libyan parliament, which he said is the on only legitimate representative of the Libyan people.
Shoukry stressed the need for the world community to adopt a "decisive rhetoric" with extremists and terrorists.
The top diplomat was delivering a speech at a ministerial conference on stability in Libya currently held in Spain.
A neighboring state, Libya is of special importance to Egypt, Shoukry said. It shares 1,000 kilometers of Egypt's western border, the foreign minister added.
The long border line has contributed to boosting the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, he noted.
That's why Egypt is over concerned about the deteriorating situation in Libya, Shoukry told the conference.
It is only normal that Egypt quickly acts to support the Libyan people in the face of challenges and to guarantee a successful transition to democracy there, he said.
