Fans of \"Days of our Lives\" star Peggy McCay said they were happy to support a \"Dog Days of our Lives\" animal rescue charity event in Tennessee and to meet her. McCay, known for her role as Caroline Brady, was the main attraction Saturday at the fundraiser benefiting Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, a non-profit helping to save animals in Middle Tennessee from euthanasia, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported. Each year Proverbs places between 650 and 700 animals with individuals or families, founder Lavonne Redferrin said. McCay answered questions peppered from the 100-person audience at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, rapped a song about the on-screen escapades of her daytime TV soap character and shared personal stories about animals. Peggy Josef, who sits on Proverbs\' fundraising committee and met McCay when she lived in Los Angeles, said the actress was eager to help the cause. \"She\'s a big animal lover, so I knew she\'d get involved the minute I told her about it,\" Josef said. \"It\'s a thrill for us to be here and get to meet her,\" fan Dennis Beal of Knoxville said.
