Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on Thursday that the potential for cooperation between Bulgaria and China in agriculture was huge. Borissov made the remarks while meeting with a delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, led by its Vice Minister Gao Hongbin. Noting the smooth business cooperation in agriculture between the two countries, Borissov highlighted a project of Tianjin State Farms Agribusiness Group Company in his country as injecting new vitality to the bilateral cooperation. Rich in agricultural resources, the country and its neighboring states also have a high demand of agricultural products, said Borissov, and therefore shows potential for future development. In his turn, Gao said that after signing the bilateral agreement on cooperation in agriculture in 2004, the exchange between the two old friends has achieved mutual benefit. Agricultural ministries of the two countries will cement their ties more closely to enhance the bilateral cooperation, Gao said. Later on Thursday, a launching ceremony of the Bulgarian branch of Tianjin State Farms Agribusiness Group Company was held near Vidin, some 230 kilometers northwest of the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. With an initial investment of 10 million euros (13.46 million U.S. dollars), the farm covers an area of 2,000 hectares.
