US stocks rose sharply on Wednesday after Republican Donald Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States.

    The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI jumped 1.4% to end at 18,589.69. The S&P 500 .SPX surged 1.11% to 2,163.26 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC added 1.11% to end at 5,251.07.
