U.S. markets followed stocks in Asia and Europe lower Monday morning. In midmorning trading, the Dow Jones industrial average shed 40.59 points, or 0.3 percent, to 13,569.56. The Nasdaq composite index lost 21.19 points, or 0.68 percent, to 3,114.99. The Standard and Poor\'s 500 index gave up 6.65 points, or 0.46 percent, to 1,454.28. The benchmark 10-year treasury note was flat, yielding 1.75 percent. The euro fell to $1.2961 from Friday\'s $1.3036. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 78.17 yen from 78.67 yen.
