Tokyo stocks continued their slide Tuesday, with the Nikkei Stock Average falling 61.99 points, or 0.7%, to end the day at 8,807.38. Overnight losses on Wall Street prompted investors to sell stocks to capitalize on recent gains. Also, market players moved to the sidelines ahead of key events overseas, including the US Federal Open Market Committee's two-day meeting through Thursday, according to (Nikkei) website. The benchmark index widened its losses to nearly 100 points in the afternoon to fall below 8,800 at one point.
