Tokyo - QNA
Tokyo stocks sank Wednesday, with the Nikkei index briefly down over 2 %, as the level of uncertainty over the U.S. presidential election significantly rose with the race between Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump tightening.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 307.72 points, or 1.76 % , from Tuesday at 17,134.68. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 24.75 points, or 1.78 %, lower at 1,368.44.
Every industry category on the main section except iron and steel and food issues lost ground, led by nonferrous metal, marine transportation and insurance issues.
