Nikkei went down for the third straight session Thursday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 24.73 points, or 0.29 percent, from Wednesday to close at 8,398.89. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 0.67 point, or 0.09 percent, higher at 722.12. The turnover was about 548.3 billion yen (about 7 billion U.S. dollars).
