Japanese shares declined Monday as market sentiment was hurt by the yen's rise and lingering tensions over territorial spats with China. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average lost 40.71 points, or 0.45 per cent, to end at 9,069.29 while the broader-based Topix index was down 2.7 points, or 0.36 per cent, at 753.68, according to a report of dpa.
