Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has announced the successful conduct of a 5G test for the first time in the region, reaching a phenomenal speed of 70GB per second.
The company demonstrated its “very high speed” fifth generation mobile technology as part its strategy to lead technological advancement and pioneer service improvement.
This test sets a new record in the speed of mobile data services, which will lead to a new revolution in cellular network applications and services, according to a press release.
Nasser Al-Nasser, senior vice president, technology and operations, STC, said: “This great result will ensure the company’s pioneering position in the telecom market.”
He said: “Achieving a 70 Gbps speed is a result of great efforts. This test underpins our commitment to introduce the latest 5G technologies.”
Al-Nasser said: “This success will boost the overall service experience for our deserving customers and will fulfil the growing demand for new high-speed quality services.”
He said: “I am very delighted to announce this landmark achievement on the roadmap to the 5G era.”
